DojoDecision

Work with Tim McDermott

I’ll help your athletes get more confident, resilient and focused — and enjoy the work.

“I coach mental and peak performance — and I hold your athletes accountable to the goals you and they set for themselves.”
Tim McDermott — Author of The Dojo DecisionHeroic-certified instructor · Assistant coach, University of Utah lacrosse

Your players are already working hard on the field, and their coaches give them the tactical side and the sports IQ they need. Where I come in is turning that into an actionable plan off it.

I help them get clear on what they actually want, name the price they’ll have to pay to get there — the habits every elite performer keeps — and then get busy paying it, with confidence, focus and resilience. The result is athletes who get better on the field and reach the goals they set for themselves.

The gap is effort — the effort nobody sees, in the hours nobody is watching. That’s the part I’ll help them bring.

And I’m glad to be an extension of your staff — telling you, their coach, exactly what we’re working on, whenever you want it. None of it is strength and conditioning programming, and none of it touches your practice plan.

The Habits screen on a phone: three of four habits logged today, each with a streak count
Their dayTap to log. Streaks do the nagging.

The habits on this screen are set by the coach and the athlete — not by me. Where I work with athletes of prospective-student-athlete age, anything I set or see is lifestyle only: sleep, preparation, and what they rehearse to themselves. Never sport-specific work.

Open to any and all. Everything here is available to anyone who wants it — any athlete, any family, any program. Nothing on this page is limited to a particular school, team, roster or recruit.

You don’t just meet with me — you train in DojoDecision every day, and I see it. Calls set the direction; the app holds you to it in between: your habits, your goals, your mental game, visible to both of us.

“I don’t know what you said to my son last night, but you lit a FIRE! The kid was up early this morning, drank water with lemon, took a cold shower, did wall ball and a 15-minute stretch session.”
Parent after her son read a chapter of The Dojo Decision with his team
“Coach McDermott helped guide my son and his teammates on the University of Utah Club lacrosse team into a top 20 Division 1 national contender. He seemed to develop a personal relationship with each player and hold them accountable to a high standard.”
David Neeleman Founder of JetBlue, Breeze, Azul, Morris Air and WestJet

Questions I get

Who is this for?
Athletes who already work hard and want somebody holding the standard with them, and the parents of athletes who are tired of being the one doing the nagging. Minimum age 13.
How long am I committed for?
Month to month. Cancel any time — there’s no term and no cancellation fee.
What happens after I pay?
You get a scheduling link and an app invite. First call inside a week.
Does the app cost extra?
No. The DojoDecision app is free, whether or not you ever work with me.
Does my coach need to know?
Nothing is required from your program, and no roster or contact list is ever requested from them. I do tell your coach before we start — that’s courtesy between coaches, and it’s how I’d want to be treated.
